“Word cannot start the converter mswrd632.wpc” or “Cannot load Word for Windows 6.0 files” Messages When Opening Word Document

Description

When you open a Word document you get one of the following errors:

1. Word cannot start the converter mswrd632.wpc

2. Cannot load Word for Windows 6.0 files

Solution

1. Press Windows Key+ R, type regedit and press enter.

2. Locate the following registry subkey:

32-bit versions of Windows

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets\Wordpad

Microsoft Windows on Windows 64 (WOW) mode

HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\microsoft\Windows

\CurrentVersion\Applets\Wordpad

If It doesn’t exist you have to create it.

3. On the right panel, right click and select DWORD value.

4. Type AllowConversion for the name of the DWORD, and then press enter.

5. Right-click AllowConversion , and then click Modify .

6. In the Value data box, type 1 , and then click OK .
