Setting Up A Server With A Dynamic IP Using DynDns.Org For Free

Description

Maybe you want to have a server at your home computer. For example you want a web server at your computer. With this solution you can do it even if you are using a dynamic IP.

Solution

In this solution I will use www.dyndns.com.

1. First we go to their web page and select create account.

2. We select a username and password, and email for DynDns to send us the confirmation.

3. Go to your email and see if you have a new email from DynDns.

4. Now you can log into DynDns.

5. Press Services.

image 6. Press Dynamic DNS

7.  Press Dynamic DNS Free

8. Press Get Started.

9. We then select the name for our domain:

10. For the IP Address we select the detected and press Add to cart.

11. We press next , and select Activate services.

12. Now we need that our IP get renewed automatically.

13. We then press Support.

14. We have to download the DynDns Updater so it will inform if your IP changes. We only have to click on the following icon:

15. Once it is installed you need to enter your login info, into this application:

16. It will show the DNS entries associated with your account, you only have to select those that will be updated by this computer. With this you can have 5 different DNS names with only one account and these IPs can be setting in different computers.

17. If you are using a router in your home you need more steps to setting it up but I will explain it a future post.
